Why can't I see a listing of all flights?
Shared charter regulations require that you, the passenger, request a flight. This is the on-demand aspect of the service. If there is an existing flight that matches your request, you will see it listed. On the Search Results screen, you are able to indicate your flexibility with different elements of the trip, allowing you to see other flights that may meet you needs.
What is FareShare? Why don't I see the rebate amount when I buy a ticket?
FareShare is our method to normalize fares from the first passenger on a flight to the last. When the first passenger buys a seat, their fare is for the whole cost of the flight. As additional passengers purchase seats, the cost of the flight is spread amongst all the passengers.
The FareShare credit is not calculated until the day of travel.
How do I find flights when I am flexible on my travel requirements?
Start a search from the home page. You need to enter departure and destination cities, travel dates and times. Once on the Search Results page, if there are matches, you will see them listed as a "Good Match" or "Best Match". If not, you will see a "New Flight" option that allows you to create a new flight. At this point you can press the "Expand Search" button and all of the parameters for your search will be extended. For example, all airports within 10, 15 and 60 miles will be searched at each press of the button, and the same for dates and times. You can be more selective by using the "Advanced Options" button. Advanced search uses a set of slider controls that allow you to tailor the search parameters individually.
When can I cancel without a penalty?
When JetLimo contacts you to confirm your flight, we will make you aware of the cancellation policy and get your approval. In general the timing runs from a couple of days before the flight up to a week before the flight.
What is a Conditional Booking?
A Conditional Booking is when a registered user of JetLimo books a new flight that is at least two weeks out and you do not want to commit to the flight until another passenger buys a seat or you accept the flight at the condition expiration date. The expiration date is typically one week from the date of travel. This allows you to create a flight that exactly matches your travel needs and it will appear available to other travelers' searches.
What does Ambassador membership give me?
The Ambassador program is an optional service. Ambassador members can create a conditional booking of a new flight. JetLimo is implementing a frequent traveler program in Q4 2009. To participate in the program you need to be an Ambassador member or on a corporate travel agreement. JetLimo will credit all travel from April 2009 until the program starts to your account. JetLimo is offering the first year of Ambassador membership at no charge for all users who register by of August 1, 2009.
How do I know which airport is closest to my final destination?
On the home page search screen, when you type a city name and select it from the drop down list, the center of the city is used for coordinates. Depending on where your individual travel needs, there may be closer airports that can accommodate charter aircraft. On the search results page, the new flights have drop lists of other airports. The airports are listed by distance from the city center. We are adding a Google Maps interface, but in the mean time, if you type in the airport code or name into Google Maps, it will show up most times. Add the letter "K" to the front of the airport code, e.g. the airport code for Camarillo Airport in Camarillo California is shown as CMA in JetLimo, you will type KCMA in Google Maps.
How is shared charter three times faster than the airlines or driving?
NASA and the FAA did a study of travel in the US and included the time from your actual origin, e.g. your office or home, all the way to your actual destination. In their report, they found that airline travel on trips under 500 miles was averaging about 78 mph. The very low effective speed is due to travel to the airport, getting through security, being at the airport at least one hour early, and having similar delays on the destination side. Shared charter provides the opportunity to leave and arrive at airports closer to your actual points of interest, you can arrive within 15 minutes of the flight, and at your destination your ground transportation will typically be waiting for you - rental car, taxi, or chauffeured car. When all the math is done, shared charter shows an effective speed over 200 mph versus the effective airline speed of less than 80. Each trip is unique, but it will be obvious when shared charter is the better way to go.
Do the airplanes have lavatories?
JetLimo uses a network of charter operators to provide the flights. All the aircraft have lavatories. If you were to book a flight on an aircraft without a lavatory, we will make sure you are fully aware of this when we confirm the flight with you.
The answer is almost always yes. There are a very few airports that do not have a Fixed Base Operator or rental car service. In those cases, we will work on your behalf to arrange ground transportation for you, directly or through one of our Travel Agent partners.
If there are no matches to your travel needs, you can use New Flights to create a new flight in the system as a shared charter flight. This flight will then be visible to other passengers. If you are an Ambassador member, you can make the New Flight a Conditional Booking.
Is there a membership fee or annual fee to use JetLimo?
No.
